Balasore Train Accident: After the gruesome train accident in Balasore, Odisha, on June 2, the Commission of Railway Safety finally submitted its report to the Railway Board. According to the railway official, this report related to the Balasore train accident is pointing towards the shortcomings of the signaling and telecommunication department. He told that the report has been submitted, in which the in-charge and employees of the relay room as well as the shortcomings of many departments have also come to the fore.
According to the Hindustan Times report, the official said that apart from the CRS probe, the CBI is also probing the incident. Also, the Railways has decided not to make the report public so that it does not have any impact on the CBI investigation regarding the accident. He said that the CRS report would not be made public due to the CBI probe. We will take cognizance of both the reports and any necessary steps will be taken only after a complete evaluation of the incident.
Apart from CRS, CBI is also probing the incident.
Earlier, on Thursday (June 29), the news agency PTI quoted sources as saying that the Railway Safety Commission, which is probing the Balasore train accident, has not revealed the details of what has been mentioned in the report. Senior officials of the Railway Board had refused to say anything on the findings of the report, but now the railway official has spoken about the flaws in the signaling and telecommunication department regarding the report.
Apart from CRS, the CBI is also probing the incident. Since the accident, the Railways has transferred several top officials of the South Eastern Railway, under whose jurisdiction the incident took place. Preliminary investigation indicated negligence or willful interference in the signal system as the cause of the accident.
