Women are more prone to constipation than men, revealed in research


Doctors and researchers from a UK startup health survey team found that women are more constipated than men. Whereas men spend more time in the bathroom. This survey named ‘The Big Poo Review’ was a special kind of survey. In which 142 to 768 people of the age of 18 years or older in the UK were included in this survey. In which he was asked how much time he spends in the bathroom. At the same time, it was also found in this research that women are more irritable than men.  According to the official website of this survey, 23 percent of women reported constipation as compared to 13 percent of men, while 19 percent of women said that they were suffering from IBS, compared to only 10 percent of men who suffered from IBS.

Because of this women have more complaints of constipation

According to the news published in the Indian Express, there is a huge difference in the gut health of men and women. That’s why both need to be understood well. According to nutritionists, the weight of women tends to shift towards their hips and thighs due to physical reasons like child rearing. Women generally face more gut health problems due to hormonal changes. Women go through different phases like periods, they are luteal, PMS and menstrual phases so they are more prone to constipation. Research has also revealed that women are more likely to feel uncomfortable about using public bathrooms or even spending more time in bathrooms than men. Due to which she does not use the bathroom and she becomes a victim of constipation. 

Men use phone in bathroom

Research has revealed that women go through more stress than men. Due to familial and societal pressures, women face far more stress than men. The mind-gut connection makes women prone to chronic GI-tract problems due to constant stress and anxiety. Experts say that men smoke in the toilet before defecating. This could also be a reason. Earlier men used to read newspapers in the washroom. Now they use their phones like the rest of us, which can increase the time spent on the toilet.
