Uniform Civil Code Issue: The discussion in the country regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is in full swing. In such a situation, a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee has been called on Monday (July 3) regarding this. It is reported that Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut will participate in this meeting from Shiv Sena (UBT). Along with Sanjay Raut, the possibility of joining the other two MPs of the party is also being expressed.
At the same time, the central government can present the UCC bill during the monsoon session of the Parliament. A meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee has been called on July 3 to know the opinion of the MPs regarding the Uniform Civil Code. BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Modi will preside over the meeting.
What did Sushil Modi say about the meeting?
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice Sushil Modi on Friday (June 30) said that the issue of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be taken up in its meeting on July 3. But the views of all the stakeholders will be sought. Talking to reporters, he said that the meeting of the committee is non-political as it has members from all political parties.
“We will discuss the Law Commission’s report on UCC on July 3. If necessary, we will call another meeting to discuss the subject further. The committee is completely neutral,” he said.
Modi said the committee members have been informed that their views on the UCC will be sought and discussed during the July 3 meeting. Till Tuesday evening, the Law Commission had received around 8.5 lakh responses to its public notice.
