JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy, who is holding the post of Chief Minister after forming government with Congress in Karnataka, made this gesture towards DK Shivakumar. After the Congress victory in Karnataka, there was speculation that DK Shivakumar would be made the Chief Minister, but in the end the Congress chose senior leader Siddaramaiah.
