Lok Sabha Elections 2024: BJP’s senior leaders from 12 states of eastern and northeastern India have announced the upcoming elections of 2024. Lok Sabha Elections Had a meeting in Assam on Thursday (July 6) to chalk out a strategy. In the meeting, BJP National General Secretary B. Ale. Santosh, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sharma, Tripura CM Manik Saha, and party MPs including MLAs and state unit presidents are attending the meeting.
BJP’s Assam unit president Bhabesh Kalita said that the main issues that will be discussed in the day-long meeting include strengthening the organization and strategy for the upcoming elections. Before this meeting, he told reporters, our target is to ensure the return of PM Modi to power as the Prime Minister for the third consecutive time and we are working in this direction.
Tribute paid to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee
Baijayant Panda, in-charge of the BJP’s Assam unit, said that his party does not just prepare before the elections, but stays in touch with the people throughout the year. In this meeting, organizational issues of all state units of eastern and northeastern India will be discussed, he said. Ahead of the meeting, BJP leaders paid tributes to Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his birth anniversary at the party’s state headquarters.
There are a total of 142 Lok Sabha seats in these 12 states, out of which BJP won 68 seats in 2019. There are a total of 25 Lok Sabha seats in the eight states of the Northeast, of which Assam has the maximum number of 14 seats. Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur and Tripura have two seats each, while Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim have one seat each. In the eastern states, West Bengal has 42 seats, Bihar has 40 seats, Odisha has 21 seats and Jharkhand has 14 seats.
Meeting will be held in Delhi on Friday
The assembly elections in Mizoram to be held later this year are also likely to be discussed in the meeting. The leaders of the northern, central and western states of the BJP will meet in New Delhi on July 7 and those of the southern states in Hyderabad on July 8.
