7th Pay Commission Latest Update: After increasing the DA Hike by the Central Government, the State Governments are also continuously increasing the Dearness Allowance for their employees. Now a new name has been added to this list of Chhattisgarh, a state ruled by Congress, where assembly elections are going to be held this year.
Now this much dearness allowance
According to a report by news agency PTI, the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel-led government has decided to increase the dearness allowance of state government employees by 5 percent (Chhattisgarh DA Hike). In this way, now the dearness allowance for the state government employees of Chhattisgarh has increased to 38 percent. However, even after this increase, the dearness allowance of state government employees is still less than that of central government employees.
This much allowance to central government employees
The central government had announced to increase the dearness allowance in March. Then the central government had increased the dearness allowance by 4 percent. After that the dearness allowance has increased to 42 per cent and the increased allowance has come into effect from January 2023 itself. Under the 7th Pay Commission, dearness allowance is revised twice a year. Looking at the current rate of inflation, another hike in dearness allowance is expected soon for central government employees.
Elections are going to be held this year
Assembly elections are going to be held in some states by the end of this year, including Chhattisgarh. This is the reason why the decision to increase the dearness allowance is being linked to the upcoming elections. Elections are also going to be held in the neighboring state of Madhya Pradesh this year, where the dearness allowance has been increased twice within 3 months. In Madhya Pradesh, dearness allowance has now become equal to 42 percent of the central government.
Direct benefit to about 4 lakh people
The PTI report quoted a government official as saying that the decision was approved in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Baghel. The official says that about 3.80 lakh employees are going to benefit from this decision of the state government. The official has also claimed that this decision to increase the dearness allowance will put an additional burden of Rs 1000 crore on the exchequer of the state government.
