Extortion calls made from Tejashwi Surya’s phone, BJP MP files case


Extortion Call: BJP MP Tejashwi Surya from Bengaluru South seat has lodged a complaint regarding an extortion call through his mobile. According to the Indian Express report, it has been said in the complaint that calls were made from Tejashwi Surya’s mobile phone to the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leader of Gujarat to extort money and diamonds.

This complaint has been lodged with the police on behalf of the private secretary of the MP, Banu Prakash. Prakash said in this complaint that when Tejashwi Surya is busy, the MP’s phone remains with him only. He said that he only answers the calls coming to the MP.

Demand to give diamonds with money
According to the complaint, he said that Prashant Karot, president of the Gujarat unit of BJYM, had received a call from BJP MP Tejashwi Surya’s mobile phone. In which Prashant was demanded to give money and diamonds. The matter came to light when Prashant Karot later called the BJP MP and told about it.

Prashant told Surya that I got a call from his number and demanded money. In his complaint, Prakash has alleged that someone had stolen the mobile phone and during this time a call was made to Prashant to extort money. After some time the phone was abandoned.

After receiving the complaint, the police registered a case under section 66(c) of the IT Act for identity theft and attempt to cheat by using computer u/s 66(d) as well as for cheating by impersonation under section 419 of the IPC. A case has been registered under sections. The BJP MP has said that the culprits will not be spared.
