NCP Political Crisis: After the rebellion of Ajit Pawar in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), there is an upheaval in the politics of Maharashtra. Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar, both factions are staking their claim on the party. Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar faction leader Praful Patel said on Friday, July 7, that the party is not broken. He claimed that the National Working Committee meeting called by Sharad Pawar in Delhi on Thursday was not official.
Talking to reporters, Praful Patel said that on June 30, the legislature party and organizational units unanimously appointed Ajit Pawar as party president, according to PTI news. He has submitted a petition to the Election Commission of India (ECI), along with affidavits of over 40 MLAs, informing about Ajit Pawar’s appointment and claiming the “party name and symbol”.
Patel raised questions on party organization
Questioning the authority of the National Working Committee, Patel called the organizational structure of the party itself wrong. “Our organizational structure is messed up as most of the party office bearers are appointed by some people, which is against the constitution of NCP and thus the working committee cannot take decisions,” he said.
Patel said, on June 30, an important meeting was held at ‘Devagiri’ (Ajit Pawar’s official residence in Mumbai), in which MLAs, office bearers and party workers were present. They unanimously appointed Ajit Pawar as their leader. He said that soon after the appointment, Ajit Pawar informed Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar that Praful Patel has been appointed as the National Working President of the party.
He said that Ajit Pawar has been appointed as the leader of the NCP Legislature Party, Anil Patel will continue to be the party whip in the assembly and the Legislative Council chairman has been informed that Amol Mitkari has been appointed as the whip in the council. Patel said, “Who will decide the (original) political party? It is under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission of India, while the action regarding MLAs is under the jurisdiction of the Speaker.” He said that the Sharad Pawar group’s decisions to expel or disqualify leaders of the Ajit Pawar faction are illegal and are not enforceable. are not.
Sharad Pawar had called a meeting of the working committee
On Thursday, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar called a meeting of the National Working Committee in Delhi. During this, the decision to expel all nine MLAs including Ajit Pawar and two MPs – Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare for anti-party activities was supported.
