BJP on Bengal Panchayat Election Violence: Voting for Panchayat elections 2023 was held in West Bengal on Saturday (July 8). During this, reports of violence came out from many districts. A total of 13 deaths, dozens of injuries and several polling stations were attacked in the violence on the day of polling. Now TMC and BJP are accusing each other of violence regarding this.

The BJP in West Bengal on Sunday (July 9) alleged that central forces were “deliberately” not deployed during the panchayat elections. To this, TMC retaliated sharply saying that there is no guarantee that violence would not have happened if forces had been deployed.

BJP accuses TMC

BJP national vice-president Dilip Ghosh said, “Had central forces been deployed in sensitive places, there would not have been so much violence and people could have exercised their franchise freely and without any fear.” Not deployed.”

Dilip Ghosh alleged that instead of deploying forces at polling stations, they were forced to patrol highways or placed at police stations. He claimed, “Even where they were posted, it was only after violence and loot of votes. The Calcutta High Court had ordered them to be deployed at all booths, but this was not done.”

TMC counter attack on BJP

On this claim of BJP, TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, “There is no guarantee that violence would not have happened if forces were deployed.” He alleged that during the 2021 assembly elections, four people were killed in the firing of central forces in Cooch Behar. Polling was held in more than 61,000 booths in the panchayat elections and violence took place in about 60 booths and serious incidents took place in eight of them. In most of the cases TMC workers died due to violence”
