Chhattisgarh News: In Chhattisgarh’s Surajpur district, due to intermittent rains for the last two days, a sliding culvert built in the Kolhua drain on the Badsara-Karondamuda road collapsed with the flow of strong water. Due to this, the connection of more than half a dozen villages with the main road has been broken, the wheels of the vehicles have stopped and the traffic has also been disrupted. Due to heavy rains, the sliding culvert built on the Kolhua drain between Badsara-Karondamuda under development block Bhaiyathan went with the flow of water. Due to this, about eight feet deep pit has also been formed on the way. People living in nearby houses are also worried due to the strong flow of water in the culvert.
District member Sunil Sahu said that this culvert was already very dilapidated and for its renovation, the regional public representatives along with the department were also informed. Despite this, no initiative was taken by the concerned in this direction. Today the villagers of more than half a dozen villages have to bear the brunt of this. He said that it was a matter of pride that no driver or other person was crossing the road, otherwise the possibility of a serious incident could not be ruled out.
Villagers say that a person had dropped the debris of the stone that came out of digging the pond next to the culvert. Due to this the drain became narrow and rain water started flowing from one place. Due to this the pressure on the culvert increased and it collapsed. Due to the collapse of the culvert, now the Badsara-Bhanwrahi access road has been obstructed. Due to this, half a dozen villages including Badsara, Baskar, Kuridih, Ghuipara, Bhanwrahi, Karondamuda have lost contact with the main road and they will have to travel an additional distance on an alternate route. Along with this, school children will also have to face problems.
34 years ago the RES department had built a culvert
While giving information, the villagers said that in the year 1989, the RES department had constructed a sliding culvert on the Kolhua Nala at a cost of 50 thousand to connect the Badsara-Karondamuda road. The said culvert had become dilapidated due to being very old. At the same time, due to the low height of the culvert, water used to flow over the bridge during the rainy days. Due to this there was a gap in the slab. This is the reason that the water rose up and the culvert was washed away.
Water running over the bridge in Kudargarh approach road
On the approach road to Maa Bageshwari Dham, Kudargarh, the wheels of the vehicles stopped and the traffic got disrupted due to water logging in the Rapta culvert built near Inderpur. The devotees who had gone out to see the Goddess since morning kept waiting for the water to recede, standing on the bank of the culvert, but the water did not recede. Due to this, many devotees reach Kudargarh for darshan by covering an additional distance of 8-10 km via Chapada-Bana road. It should be noted that during the rainy season, the traffic gets affected due to water flowing from above in Rapta many times. Monsoon In the month, along with the tribal community, people from other sections also specially go to visit Maa Bageshwari. Due to intermittent rains in the area and water coming from the mountains, all the rivers and drains of the area are in spate.
