Anna Bhagya Scheme Karnataka: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that under the Anna Bhagya Yojana, from July 10, the beneficiaries will be paid in cash instead of additional 5 kg of rice. With the introduction of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), the Congress government in the state has started implementing another one of the five guarantees announced before the elections in May.
The state government took this decision ignoring the difficulties being faced in fulfilling the guarantees made during the elections. The government had said that there are difficulties in the purchase of rice, for this the beneficiaries will be paid in cash. Now the government says that Rs 34 per kg will be paid for the extra rice.
This scheme is applicable to all members of BPL and Antyodaya families. According to the state government, there are 1.28 crore ration cards of ‘Antyodaya Anna Yojana and Preference Family’ in Karnataka.

4.41 crore people are beneficiaries in this scheme
Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Minister K. H. Muniyappa told reporters in Devanahalli area on Saturday (July 8) itself, “There are 1.28 crore families below the poverty line (BPL) in the state, out of which 4.41 crore people are beneficiaries.”
The demand was made from the center
Muniyappa had said that the state tried to get rice from the center but the central government refused. The Karnataka government also approached Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and other states, but the price was too high.
Who will get how much?
170 rupees will be sent every month to the account of each person out of 4.41 crore ration card holder beneficiaries. There are 1.28 crore ration cards of Antyodaya Anna Yojana and priority families in Karnataka and 99 percent of these are linked to Aadhaar cards. Of these, 82 percent (about 1.06 crore) cards are linked to active bank accounts, while the remaining card holders will be informed to open a new bank account. Let us tell you that giving 10 kilograms of rice per person under Anna Bhagya Yojana is one of the five promises of the Congress government before the elections.
