Due to the craze for the taste of boda, this vegetable is sold in the markets of Bastar for 1500 to 2 thousand rupees per kg. As soon as the monsoon season arrives, the vegetable of Boda starts appearing in the markets of Bastar. Tribal women are reaching the city markets to sell bags.
Women tell that Boda vegetable comes out from the ground near the tree every year before the arrival of monsoon. Because of this, there is a lot of demand for it in Bastar. People wait for this vegetable throughout the year. The maximum yield of boda occurs in the months of July and August. Because of this, it is available in urban areas as well as in hot markets in rural areas. The villagers tell that the rainy and humid weather is considered favorable for the growth of the unique vegetable boda that grows under the sal trees. During this time, the villagers living in the rural areas of Bastar go to the forest and start collecting Boda, because by selling Boda vegetables, the villagers also earn well.
It is worth mentioning that along with Bastar, people of other districts of the state and people of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh also have a lot of attraction towards this vegetable. A large number of people from here come to Bastar to buy it. People say that it is tastier than non-veg. When the arrival of Boda is less due to the change in the weather, then people are ready to buy it at the asking price.
Dr. Sanjay Prasad explains that boda has high amount of carbohydrate along with protein and those who have diabetes should eat boda. It is very beneficial for health. Boda is tasty as well as very healthy. Boda is rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, fat and anemic acid, due to which it is very beneficial for health. On the other hand, scientists have been trying for a long time to artificially produce boda. If they become successful, then this vegetable can make a splash in the vegetable market of the country and around the world.
