Udaipur’s Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology through which many innovations have been made in the agriculture sector. An innovation in this has been done by the Rajasthan Agriculture College of this University. Here scientists have grown the mushroom grown in Germany for the first time in the country. It is a great thing that mushrooms are a boon for cancer patients. Although it is being produced in large quantities in Japan, but now it has started here too. The name of this mushroom is Shiitake mushroom.

Shiitake mushroom is available at Rs 1400 per kg

Shyam Sundar Sharma, Dean of College of Rajasthan Agriculture College, told that Shiitake mushroom is an important anti-carcinogenic mushroom and its effect has also been proved. It can be produced only on sawdust because in nature also it is found on wood only. It is mainly from Germany and was imported and produced from there. There it is grown in 14 degree temperature but here it is grown in 18-22 degree temperature.

It is available in the market for Rs.1400 per kg. If it is produced here on a large scale, then people will be benefited. The college has started the work of producing this mushroom on a large scale in the Mushroom Project.

Mushroom boon for cancer patients

The technology of development and production of Ganoderma mushroom was developed for the environment of Rajasthan. Both these mushrooms also proved to be a boon for cancer victims and now production of both of them has been started on a large scale.

The intricacies of the production technology have been simplified and a lot of enthusiasm is being seen among the mushroom growers in growing these mushrooms. It is also known as Reishi mushroom. Anti-disease elements found in it such as antioxidants triterpenes and various micro-elements which increase the anti-disease capacity. Its special importance has also been found in preventing cancer.

Portabella Mushrooms

It is also called brown button mushroom. Its medicinal potential is much more than other white buttons. Its large dimensions have been established in the Mushroom Project. It has been promoted and disseminated on a large scale. Anti-carcinogenic properties are also found in this mushroom.

Its production has come up to 18 percent in the last 2 years. 20-20 degree temperature is suitable for its successful production. He told that according to the cost of production and market price of all mushrooms, the net profit is Rs 400 on Rs 100. Presently all interested persons can come and see the production in the project. Training is also given to grow these mushrooms.
