Russell Group Universities to Use AI: People have different views regarding the use of AI i.e. Artificial Intelligence in studies. Especially educational institutes and top universities are seen standing in opposition to Chat GPT. However, now there seems to be a change in this attitude. Many of the UK’s top universities have stamped the use of AI to teach students. They have made an agreement under which AI can be used ethically.
During this, care will be taken that this facility is not misused by anyone. Overall, the benefits of AI will be shared with the students so that they can perform better in studies with the help of technology.
Russell Group agreed
These universities have issued rules regarding the use of AI and have said that it is necessary for students and staff to become ‘AI literate’. This group includes many big universities like Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol, Durham, Manchester, etc. They say that they will design the course in such a way that students can get help from it and they can learn the best use of AI. In this way, they will also be able to use many tools like Chat GPT for studies.
Vice Chancellor of 24 Russell Group University has agreed to this. It also includes London School of Economics, Imperial College London.
what are the guidelines
In the guidelines issued in this regard, it has mainly been said that AI should be used properly. Staff, teachers and students all use it but just keep in mind that no unethical act should be done. Information should not be misused. For this, training will also be given to the staff and everything from the exam to the course will be designed accordingly.
AI was banned sometime back
It was only a matter of time when UK universities warned about the use of AI and especially Chat GPT, saying that it makes students cheat and make work easier. Not only this, in March 2023, many universities (including many associated with Russell Group) had completely banned the use of AI. At the same time, these universities are now accepting that the benefits of this must reach the students.
