Controversy over feeding meat to Hindu girl student, ban on non-veg in school tiffins


Jharkhand News: Non-veg will not be allowed to be brought in Tiffin in all government and private schools in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. The decision has been taken following a controversy over a Hindu girl student being allegedly fed banned meat by her friend in a city school. District Education Superintendent of East Singhbhum district Nishu Kumari has given this instruction.

Hindu student was fed meat by her Muslim classmate
The case pertains to Symbiosis Public School located in Mango of the city. It is alleged that a Hindu girl student studying in class four was fed forbidden meat by her Muslim classmate during tiffin hour last Friday. The Hindu student reached home crying. On this, his relatives reached the school and complained. When the matter caught fire, the school management expelled the girl student who fed meat, while the family members of the affected student demanded a TC (transfer certificate) expressing their desire not to teach their girl child in this school.

The matter in the cognizance of District Education Superintendent
After the matter came to cognizance, District Education Superintendent Nishu Kumari sought answers from the school management and summoned them. The principal of the school said that both the girls are fourth grade students. Often children share tiffin, during that time this happened. Both have not done this work intentionally. Special attention will be paid to ensure that such incidents do not happen in the school.

Prohibition on bringing non-veg in tiffin in all government and private schools
However, after this incident, District Education Officer of East Singhbhum has banned non-veg in tiffin in all government and private schools of Jamshedpur. Prohibition order has been issued. The department is preparing a guideline regarding this. It has been told that an advisory will also be issued regarding junk food in schools.
