So many people came out of poverty

News agency PTI According to a news report, the report prepared by the United Nations Development Program ie UNDP and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative of Oxford University was released on Tuesday. The report claims that in the last 15 years, India has successfully lifted 415 million people out of poverty. This shows that India has done a very good job in reducing poverty in recent years.

Poverty reduced by half in these countries

The Global Multidimensional Poverty Index along with the report has been issued. According to the report, 41.5 crore people have come out of poverty in India during 2005-06 to 2019-2021. The report also claims that India has halved its MPI value in the last 15 years. Apart from India, 24 other countries have also achieved success in this. Those countries include Cambodia, China, Congo, Honduras, Indonesia, Morocco, Serbia and Vietnam.

Population exceeded China in April

Let us tell you that India It has become the country with the largest population in the world. According to the United Nations, India’s population reached 142.86 crore in April and with this India has overtaken China in terms of population. In such a situation, this reduction in poverty becomes quite remarkable. Was. In the year 2015-16, it came down to 37 crores, and in 2019-21 this figure was only 23 crores. In this way, in the last 15 years, the number of poor in India has decreased by about two-thirds i.e. about 65 percent. India has performed brilliantly on various fronts. The child mortality rate was 4.5 per cent 15 years ago, which has come down to 1.5 per cent now. People who do not have fuel to cook food have come down from 52.9 per cent to 13.9 per cent. Similarly, there has been a sharp decline in the number of people without access to clean drinking water and electricity.
