Vainger Group Rebellion: During the Wagner Army rebellion, citizens of Russia withdrew 100 billion rubles (about $1.1 billion) from banks. The Moscow Times has disclosed this in one of its reports. The report quoted Russia’s central banks as claiming that 100 billion rubles were withdrawn during Wagner’s rebellion (on June 23–25).

Russian business news outlet RBC reported that there was a sudden increase in demand for cash during the Wagner Rebellion. In such a situation, people fiercely withdrew money from banks during this period. Russia’s central bank reported that 500 billion rubles (about $5.5 billion) were withdrawn from the country’s banks during June. However, one-fifth of this amount was withdrawn during the rebellion.

Ruble hits bottom

It has been claimed in the report that for this reason the ruble reached a 15-month low last week. Economists linked it to rebellion. Significantly, since the conflict with Ukraine started last year (February 2022), the ruble has been falling continuously. Economist Evgeny Kogan said that due to Wagner’s rebellion, the ruble will fall further.
