ICC New Rule For Slow Over Rate: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a major change in the slow over rate rule. The decision to change this rule was taken in the ongoing ICC annual meeting in Durban. This new rule will be implemented from this edition of the World Test Championship (WTC), in which players will get a big relief in terms of fines. In the final of the second edition of WTC, where the Indian team was fined 100 percent due to slow over rate. At the same time, Australia was also fined 80 percent.
In the new rule of slow over rate, no team will be fined 100 percent match fee. In the update issued by the ICC, it was told that due to the slow over rate, the penalty of WTC points imposed on the teams will continue as before. The percentage of the fine imposed on the players has been changed.
Giving information, the ICC said that according to the new rule, now the match fees of the players will be deducted by 5 percent for each over. The penalty percentage will increase according to the number of overs that are less than the stipulated time. In this, only 50 percent of the match fee will be fined on a maximum player, which was earlier 100 percent.
There will be no penalty for collecting the team before 80 overs
Another major change has been made in the slow over rate rule by the ICC. In this, if a team gets all out before 80 overs and there is no new ball due, then the bowling team will not have to face any penalty for slow over rate. In the new amendment, the current limit of 60 overs has been abolished.
