Stock market closed in green mark, market cap decreased by 5.65 lakh crore due to mid-small cap decline


Stock Market Closing On 13 July 2022: Thursday’s trading session was historic for the Indian stock market, the BSE Sensex managed to cross the 66,000 mark for the first time. But after achieving this historical milestone, the market fell heavily from the upper levels. The Sensex slipped 600 points below its day’s high. So Nifty also saw a decline of 180 points. While in the morning trade Sensex was trading at 770 and Nifty was trading with a jump of 183 points. At the end of today’s trading, the BSE Sensex closed at 65,558 with a jump of 165 points and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed at 19,413 points with a jump of 30 points.

In today’s trading session, there has been a sharp decline in midcap and small cap stocks. Apart from this, stocks of Auto, FMCG, Pharma, Energy, Media, Infra, Consumer Durables, Healthcare, Oil and Gas sectors closed down. However, the shares of IT, banking, metals, real estate sector remained fast. After better results of TCS, IT index closed with a gain of 500 points. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 14 closed with gains while 16 closed with losses. Whereas, out of 50 stocks of Nifty, 18 stocks closed up and 32 closed down.

Big fall in BSE’s market cap

In today’s trade, there has been a big decline in mid cap and small cap stocks including Reliance Industries. In such a situation, the market cap of the companies listed on BSE has gone down to Rs 295.96 lakh crore. While the market cap in trade on Wednesday was Rs 301.61 lakh crore. That is, there has been a decline of Rs 5.65 lakh in the wealth of the investors in today’s trade.
