Bastar MP Deepak Baij has been made the new president of the State Congress Committee. Deepak Baij has been made the youngest state president ever. Being a young leader, all the youth of Bastar division like him a lot, Deepak Baij has traveled from hostel president to PCC president in just 17 years of political journey.

MP from Bastar, Deepak Bech has been made the president of the Pradesh Congress Committee. Deepak Bhai has been made the youngest state president so far, there is an atmosphere of celebration among his supporters as he has been made the president of someone. Being a young leader, all the youth of Bastar division like him a lot. Deepak Baij has traveled from hostel president to PCC president in just 17 years.
‘I will do my best to live up to the trust’
For the last few months, the name of Deepak Baij was at the top of the list of PCC President’s names and finally late Wednesday night, All India Congress Committee National General Secretary KC Venugopal announced his name. Handed over the command of PCC President to him. On making Deepak Baij the president, he told ABP News that the seniors of the organization have given me the responsibility. I will try my best to live up to their trust and will take along all the members, workers and office bearers in the party. Deepak said that he will take the organization along with him to form the Congress government once again in the coming assembly elections. Along with this, in this Loksabha election too, by getting more seats in Chhattisgarh, it will be our endeavor and priority to form our own government at the Center as well. He said that along with the tribals, he will continue to raise his voice for the interests of all classes.
At an early age, he was given the command of the President of the PCC.
Bastar MP Deepak Baij is 42 years old. At such a young age, he has been given the command of the President of PCC. Deepak Baij’s political journey started with student politics. Born in Gadhia village of Launhadiguda block of Bastar district, Deepak Baij completed his schooling in Launhadiguda. After which he did double MA in Political Science and Economics from PG College of Jagdalpur city. After that he did LLB, he completed his college studies by staying in Adivasi Balak Ashram. During this he was also the president of the hostel. After which he got the post in the organization for the first time in 2008. He became the Bastar District President of NSUI. After this, in 2009, he got the responsibility of Youth Congress General Secretary.
Defeated Lachhuram Kashyap who was a candidate from BJP
After this, from 2009 to 2014, he was the acting and full-time president of Laundiguda Block Congress. Congress gave him ticket from Chitrakot assembly in 2013 assembly elections. In spite of having many senior tribal leaders in this assembly, he was given the ticket because of his strong hold in the student organization and in his area. He defeated veteran BJP leader Baiduram Kashyap. After which his stature in the party increased and the Deepak badge became the choice of state Congress as well as national level leaders. The party once again gave ticket in the 2018 assembly elections. In this election also, Lachhuram Kashyap, who was a candidate from BJP, was defeated by a margin of huge votes.
Despite the Modi wave, Deepak Baij won by 38,000 votes.
After winning the election twice in a row, he was elected in 2019. Lok Sabha Elections Congress gave ticket to MP from Bastar Loksabha. Despite the Modi wave, Deepak Baij defeated BJP candidate Baiduram Kashyap by a margin of 38,000 votes. Youth of Bastar became MP. Meanwhile, in 2022, the Congress high command made him the vice-president of the National Tribal Congress. After being made the Bastar MP, Deepak became a favorite of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi due to his unflinching handling of Bastar issues in Parliament. His stature also increased in the All India Congress Committee, the same Deepak Baij is said to be the choice of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Because of which he has got such a big responsibility.
