The demand for flowers increases in the month of Sawan. In the festive season, the business of flowers has once again gained momentum in the city. Its demand is highest among ornamental flowers.

Adverse effect on flower production due to rain

Due to continuous rains, the production of flowers is being adversely affected. As soon as the monsoon starts, the first spring of marigold and rose flowers starts, there is tremendous booking for decorating the temples. The demand includes local flowers like marigold, lotus, rose as well as artificial flowers. But this time the arrival of flowers in the market is decreasing due to which the price has increased by two and a half times.

80 to 100 traders do business of flowers in Choithram flower market in Indore and from here flowers are sent to many districts of the state. This time, due to delay in rains and continuous rains, the crop of marigold and rose will start arriving after a delay of 2 to 3 weeks.

During the season, flowers arrive from major cities of the country. If the weather remains clear then the production of flowers will be bumper. The demand for flowers increases in the month of Sawan. In such a situation, farmers can sell their produce at a good price in the market by getting the yield at this time.

Market trader Rajesh Prajapati told what is the condition

Market trader Rajesh Prajapati told that the first spring of marigold and rose also starts in the beginning of Sawan, but this time the weather was not favorable for flowers. On an average, 10,000 kg of marigolds arrive in Indore mandi this season, but now only 6,000 kg are arriving. Monsoon Marigold flowers cost Rs.30 in the beginning. Sold per kg. 70 to 80 rupees due to shortage of goods. Kilo is on sale now.

10,000 kg of such roses arrive daily in the Indore mandi, but at present around 1500 to 2000 kg is coming in. Rose also Rs.80. Selling up to per kg. If the weather pattern remains like this then the yield of flowers will be affected, whereas even after 2 weeks the crop of flowers will come in the spring and the yield is also expected to be bumper.

Rose 60 to 80 Rs. Kilo, marigold 70 to 80 rupees. Kilo, Mogra Rs.150. Kilo, Rajnigandha 70 to 80 rupees. Gerbera, Carnation, Dutch and other ornamental flowers in Kilo, English flowers are still in demand while the off season is going on. Their prices are running at Rs 40 to 60 per kg. Navrang season is towards the end, so it is not coming in the market.

In the villages Memdi, Datoda, Mirzapur, Ralamandal, Nainod, Magarkheda, Shakarkhedi, Kanadiya, Betma, Gawla etc. around 40 kilometers of Indore, flowers are cultivated at the local level and a large number of farmers come to the mandi from here. Flowers come to sell. Right now the off season is going on, flowers from the states of South India also arrive in Indore. Flowers arrive from Delhi and Maharashtra to Indore from time to time.
