Temple priest Rahul Tiwari told that there are 12 Shivratri’s every year in the Hindu calendar, but out of these two Shivratri’s are given special importance. The most prominent of these is considered to be the Shivratri of Phalgun month, which is mahashivratri Also called. Apart from this, the second important Shivratri Monsoon is considered. On this day, Lord Shiva is worshiped with rituals. The glory of the month of Shravan has been described in Sanatan Dharma. It is believed that on this day, the devotees who keep fast and offer prayers, Mahadev gets pleased quickly and they get his special blessings.

Today, Rudrabhishek of Shivling has great importance on Shivratri. On this day Shivling is anointed with water, ghee, milk, sugar, honey, curd etc. Belpatra, datura and quince are offered on Shivling, along with incense, lamps, fruits and flowers etc. are worshiped. There is a law of recitation of Shiva Purana, Shiva Stuti, Shiva Ashtak, Shiva Chalisa and Shiva Shloka while worshiping Shiva. It is a belief that all the wishes of the devotees who keep fast on Masik Shivratri and worship Lord Shiva with true heart are fulfilled. By fasting on this day, difficult tasks become easy and all the problems of fasting are removed.
