According to Hindustan Times, India and France have said in a joint statement that India will set up a technical office of the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) at its embassy in Paris.

What did India and France say?
India and France said in a joint statement on Friday (July 14) that both countries believe in the existence of an independent, free, inclusive and secure Indo-Pacific region. Respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity, we resolve to establish a balanced and stable order in this strategic region in accordance with international law.

After bilateral talks between the PM and French President Emmanuel Macron, the two countries released the draft ‘India-France Indo-Pacific Framework’. It has been said in the draft of this framework that India and France are strategically important ‘Resident Powers’ (Resident Powers) and are major partners with significant stake in the Indo-Pacific region.

The ‘India-France Indo-Pacific Framework’ has been released at a time when China’s aggression in this strategic region is increasing continuously.

The two countries said in the draft ‘India-France Indo-Pacific Framework’, “India-France partnership in the Indian Ocean has become an important center of our bilateral relations. In 2018, India and France agreed on a ‘Joint Strategic Vision for Indo-French Cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region’. We are now ready to expand our joint efforts in the Pacific region.

In which areas is the cooperation of India and France focused?
Both countries said in this joint statement, “Our cooperation is focused on protecting our own economic and security interests. Its mission is to ensure shared global and free access to the Indo-Pacific region, to build a partnership of prosperity and stability in the region, to advance the rule of international law, to uphold sovereignty and territorial integrity, while working with others in the region and beyond Respecting this, a balanced and stable system has to be built in the region. ,

The two countries said, “Our cooperation is comprehensive and includes defence, security, economic, connectivity, infrastructure, stability and human-centred development.” Our bilateral cooperation advances our mutual security.

India and France put emphasis on which area?
Both countries also resolved to enhance their naval cooperation and develop defense industrial capabilities in India and jointly support the needs of other countries.

India and France emphasized that they will continue to work together to enhance cooperation for development in countries in the Indo-Pacific region, including Africa, the Indian Ocean region, South Asia, South-East Asia and the Pacific region.
