Tomato prices did wonders, this Indian farmer became a millionaire in a month


Tomato Price: Due to the rising prices of tomato, it has disappeared from the plate of common people. In the last few days, the prices of tomatoes have reached up to Rs 200 per kg in different parts of the country. While the rising price of tomatoes has become a cause of trouble for the common people, a farmer from Pune in Maharashtra has become a millionaire because of this. According to the report published in India Today, a farmer named Bhagoji Gaikar has earned a whopping Rs 1.5 crore by selling only tomatoes. This earning has been done by selling 13,000 crates of tomatoes.

Tomato made a millionaire

Farmer Bhagoji Gaikar has a total of more than 18 acres of agricultural land. Out of this, he cultivates tomatoes on 12 acres of land with the help of his family. A very good crop of tomatoes has grown in his farm this year, for which he has got very good prices in the market. Bhagoji Gaykar told that nowadays he is earning Rs 2,100 by selling one crate of tomatoes. In such a situation, on Friday, by selling 900 crates of tomatoes, he has earned more than Rs 18 lakh in a day.

He has told that the price of tomatoes in Narayanganj has been ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,400 per crate in the last month. Seeing the earnings of Bhagoji Gaykar, other farmers of the area are also cultivating tomatoes, so that they can earn a lot in the coming times. According to the local committee, farmers have earned more than 80 crores through the sale of tomatoes in the last one month.

Farmers in Karnataka also earned lakhs

It is noteworthy that not only Maharashtra, farmers of states like Karnataka have also earned lakhs and crores in the last one month by selling tomatoes. A farmer in Kolar, Karnataka has earned a whopping Rs 38 lakh by selling just 2,000 boxes of tomatoes. It is worth noting that due to the rising prices of tomatoes across the country, the government has taken several steps. The National Cooperative Consumers Federation (NCCF) is selling tomatoes at Rs 90 per kg in many states. The federation is procuring tomatoes from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
