Religious Conversion: A statement of Assam Chief Minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding conversion has come to the fore. He says that conversion has been seen in many people of the country as well as in the tribal community. CM Sarma also said that this has also weakened the traditional beliefs and practices of the tribals.
In fact, Himanta Biswa Sarma attended an official function organized at Guwahati Medical College as the chief guest. He was addressing a function related to distribution of grants of Indigenous Tribal Faith and Culture Organization in Guwahati on Sunday (July 16).
According to NDTV, CM Sarma said that his government is committed to protect the culture of tribals and should not take advantage of anyone and convert them to another religion by fraud.

At the same time, he said about Article 25 that under this, anyone gets the right to believe, worship and propagate the religion of his choice, but it does not give the right to induce and convert religion in any way. .
During this, he said that in Assam, the process of changing religion was seen among many communities as well as among tribals. This trend has weakened their traditional beliefs and practices.
CM Sarma also said that due to religious conversions, many indigenous beliefs and cultures around the world have almost become extinct.
