In fact, Himanta Biswa Sarma attended an official function organized at Guwahati Medical College as the chief guest. He was addressing a function related to distribution of grants of Indigenous Tribal Faith and Culture Organization in Guwahati on Sunday (July 16).

According to NDTV, CM Sarma said that his government is committed to protect the culture of tribals and should not take advantage of anyone and convert them to another religion by fraud.

CM Sarma also said that due to religious conversions, many indigenous beliefs and cultures around the world have almost become extinct.
