Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday (July 16) indicated talks about JDS joining the NDA before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Responding to a question on the possibility of JDS joining the NDA, Bommai said, “It has to be discussed between our leadership and JDS president HD Deve Gowda.”
Basavaraj Bommai said that future political developments would be based on the results of these discussions. Recently, enough indications have been received from the leaders of BJP and JDS to reach an agreement before the Lok Sabha elections. Veteran BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa had said that his party and JDS would together fight the Congress government in the state.
HD Kumaraswamy also indicated about the alliance
Earlier, former Karnataka Chief Minister and JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy had issued a statement on Monday (June 12) regarding the alliance with BJP. He had said, “The decision on the electoral agreement for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be taken when the time comes. The party currently has no proposal for parliamentary elections.”
BJP did not appoint the leader of the opposition
Even two weeks after the start of the Legislature session, the BJP has not yet appointed the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly. The party has been facing criticism from various sections including the ruling Congress in the state for the delay. Regarding this, Bommai said that this appointment can be done after July 18.
Let us tell you that in Karnataka in 2019, Lok Sabha ElectionsOut of total 28 seats in the state, it won 25 seats, while one seat was won by independents. Congress and JDS had won one seat each.
