Imran Khan Case: An Islamabad court has declared the case of illegal marriage of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi acceptable and has summoned both of them on July 20. Geo TV gave this information on Tuesday.
According to the report, Civil Judge Qudratullah announced the verdict. Along with this, a notice was issued against the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and his wife. Earlier, petitioner Muhammad Haneef had claimed that Bushra Bibi was divorced by her ex-husband in November 2017 and she married Imran Khan in January 2018 despite her ‘iddat’ period not having expired. In such a situation, this marriage was not done according to Islamic Sharia law.
What is iddat?
According to a Geo TV report, in Islam, the waiting period for a Muslim woman after her divorce or death of her husband is called Iddat. Iddat is a period of four months and 10 days i.e. 130 days after the death of the husband. That is, after separation from the husband, the woman remains unmarried. Not only this, if a woman becomes a widow after becoming pregnant, then the period of iddat continues till the birth of the child.
What did the cleric who conducted the marriage say?
In this case, Maulvi Mufti Muhammad Saeed, who got married between Imran and Bushra, said in his statement in the court that despite knowing everything, Khan had married Bushra Bibi during iddat. He further said that a woman claiming to be Bushra’s sister assured him that all Sharia conditions for their marriage had been fulfilled and that she and Khan were free to marry.
Significantly, Bushra Bibi was divorced in November 2017. In such a situation, there was a prediction that if PTI President marries Bushra Bibi, he will become the Prime Minister of Pakistan. after which Imran Khan He married Bushra Bibi.
