Manipur Violence News: Manipur has been burning in the fire of violence for almost two and a half months. On Wednesday (July 19) it became the 78th day of violence. The series of clashes that started after the ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organized in the hilly districts on May 3 in protest against the demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status of the Meitei community, has not stopped.
Meanwhile, 120 people have lost their lives in the violence. Hundreds of people have been injured and thousands of people have also been displaced. Even the army has been deployed in the state to control the situation, but the pictures of violence since two and a half months are disturbing. Now an embarrassing video has gone viral on social media. A case of kidnapping, gangrape and murder etc. has been registered in Nongpok Sekmai police station.

According to the news agency PTI, tension prevailed in the hill region of Manipur after the video of two women paraded naked in Manipur surfaced on Wednesday (July 19). In this video of May 4, it is seen that some people from the other side are parading two women of one community naked.

This video has surfaced a day before the proposed march of ‘Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum’ (ITLF) on Thursday. According to an ITLF spokesperson, the ‘disgusting’ incident took place on May 4 in Kangpokpi district and the video shows the men continuously molesting the helpless women and they (the women) are crying and begging for them .
The police is investigating the matter. In a statement condemning the ‘heinous act’, the spokesperson demanded that the central and state governments, the National Commission for Women and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes take cognizance of the crime and take action against the perpetrators. The Kuki-Jo tribals are also planning to raise the issue during their proposed protest march in Churchandpur on Thursday.
Home Minister Amit Shah has visited the state, an all-party meeting was also held
To control the situation in Manipur, Union Minister Amit Shah visited the state at the end of May and appealed to the people to maintain peace. On the other hand, the opposition party continues to be the prime minister. Narendra Modi But they are accusing us of keeping silence on the matter.
Even the houses of some prominent leaders have not been spared from the grip of violence. On the night of June 15, the mob ransacked and set fire to the house of Union Minister of State for External Affairs RK Ranjan Singh. Earlier on June 14, some people also set fire to the official residence of Women Minister Nemcha Kipjen in Lamphel area of Imphal.
The Central Government had called an all-party meeting on the issue of Manipur on 24 June. Union Home Minister Amit Shah informed about the steps to be taken by the government in the state in the meeting. The opposition had demanded the immediate removal of state Chief Minister N Biren Singh. Some leaders demanded imposition of President’s rule in the state.

At the same time, the main opposition party Congress had made an eight-point demand regarding Manipur, in which the demand for the immediate removal of CM Biren Singh was number one. Some parties, including the Congress, expressed hope that an all-party delegation would be sent to Manipur.
