CM Gehlot is preparing to give ‘Social Security Pension’, Rajasthan will be the first state to do so


Rajasthan Social Security Pension: In the election year, the government is trying to give something or the other to everyone. Now Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has said about giving social security pension. A proper law will be made for this. In fact, while presenting the budget on February 10, 2023, it was announced to bring the Minimum Income Guarantee Act (Entitlement Based Social Security). Now the Act is being brought in the House, in which it is being told that a provision has been made to implement the Mahatma Gandhi Minimum Income Guarantee Scheme by enacting a law through the Rajasthan Minimum Income Guarantee Bill.

Under this scheme, all the families of the state have been guaranteed employment for a minimum of 125 days every year. That is, all families living in rural areas will be eligible to get 125 days of employment under MNREGA and all families living in urban areas will be eligible for 125 days of employment under Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme.

The rules will be slightly different for these

For Kathodi, Sahariya tribes and specially abled people, 200 days of employment will be provided in rural areas. Social security pension of minimum 1000 rupees will be given in case of disabled/elderly/widow seeking work. This pension will be increased by 15% every year. On July 21, this bill will be presented in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. Rajasthan is the first state in the country to enact such a law for social security. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, by writing a letter and passing a proposal from the cabinet, has demanded the Prime Minister to implement ‘Right to Social Security’ across the country.

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Tikaram Julie told in the assembly that about 97% of the Social Security Pension Scheme is funded by the state government. He said that according to the announcement of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, now at least Rs 1000 will be given in social security pension. After this decision, the contribution of the central government will remain only about one percent. He clarified that at present the State Government is spending about Rs 11 thousand 500 crore on the Social Security Pension Scheme while the Central Government is spending only about Rs 367 crore. Julie told that several important steps have been taken by the department to stop fake pension payments.
