CM N Biren Singh’s statement on Manipur incident came to the fore, said- will consider capital punishment


Manipur Violence Video: The video of the heart-wrenching incident with two women in Manipur is viral on social media, PM Modi has also expressed grief over this matter and has spoken of strict action, while the Supreme Court has also taken suo motu cognizance. There is a lot of anger on the social media regarding Manipur’s CM N Biren Singh regarding the incident, meanwhile N Biren Singh’s statement has come to the fore. In which he said that the police have been instructed to arrest the accused, along with the CM said that those who commit such crimes will not be spared.

CM Biren Singh expressed condolences
Amidst the ruckus over the incident of parading nude of two women in Manipur, CM N Biren Singh said, “My condolences to the two women who were subjected to the most humiliating and inhuman act as shown in the video that surfaced yesterday.” Taking suo motu cognizance of the incident soon after the video surfaced, the Manipur Police swung into action and made the first arrest this morning.”

The Chief Minister of Manipur further said, “The matter is currently under investigation and we will ensure that strict action is taken against all the perpetrators, including the possibility of capital punishment. There is absolutely no place for such heinous acts in our society.”

Supreme Court took cognizance
The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance of this incident in Manipur. Expressing displeasure, the Supreme Court directed strictest action against the accused. During this, CJI Chandrachud said that women are being used as equals in violence affected areas. We should be told what action has been taken against those responsible for this? The matter will be heard in the Supreme Court on Friday next week.
