Parliament Monsoon Session Live Updates: The Monsoon session of the Parliament is starting from Thursday i.e. 20th July, which will continue till 11th August. During this, there will be work in the House for a total of 17 days. The Center held an all-party meeting on Wednesday (July 19) before the start of the session. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal attended the meeting from the government side. Congress MPs Jairam Ramesh, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary, Aam Aadmi Party’s Sanjay Singh, Shiromani Akali Dal’s Harsimrat Kaur Badal and many other leaders took part from the opposition parties.

During the meeting, various parties including Congress, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik’s Biju Janata Dal demanded discussion on various issues related to the country.

In the all-party meeting, the Congress demanded the government to discuss issues like the situation in Manipur, the Odisha train accident and price rise. The party said that if the government wants to run the house, it should give a chance to the opposition to present its views. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary told news agency PTI that we have demanded in the meeting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should come to the House and discuss the situation in Manipur.

In the monsoon session of Parliament starting from July 20, opposition parties have made preparations to surround the government on various issues like the situation in Manipur and the Delhi Services Ordinance. The monsoon session is being organized at a time when on this Tuesday (July 18), 26 opposition parties have formed the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (India) to challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

During this session of Parliament, the issue of Delhi National Capital Territory Government Amendment Ordinance and its related bill will come up prominently and there are chances of a tussle between the government and the opposition. The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is opposing the ordinance on the appointment and transfer of bureaucrats in Delhi, which was issued by the central government in May.

After attending an all-party meeting called by the government, AAP leader Sanjay Singh told reporters, “How can the subject of constitutional amendment be passed through an ordinance?” We will strongly oppose the crushing of the rights of two crore people of Delhi and not allowing the Kejriwal government to run.
