Taking an aggressive stand against the BJP, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has called the central government a failure on civil security. He said that the BJP government at the Center has failed miserably in controlling the violence in Manipur. Praising the Rajasthan Police, CM Gehlot said that taking swift action on the Jodhpur gangrape incident, the Rajasthan Police has arrested the accused within 2 hours. He said that in Manipur where violence has been going on for 77 days, the law and order situation in Rajasthan is better.

State chief Ashok Gehlot tweeted, “After the gruesome gang rape in Jodhpur, three accused were arrested in just two hours. Whereas BJP took 77 days to nab just one accused in Manipur’s shameful incident.”

Let us tell you that ethnic violence has been happening between the Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur for the last two months. The clashes began after a tribal solidarity march was organized in the hill districts on May 3 to protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status. At least 160 people have lost their lives in the state since then. Internet is closed in the state, thousands of houses have been burnt, a large number of people have been living in shelter homes or forests.
