NIA Busted ISIS Module: NIA has busted the conspiracy of major terrorist attacks. Ministry of Home Affairs about spokesman said on Thursday (July 20) that the PM Narendra Modi Strictly following the government’s policy of zero tolerance against terrorism, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has achieved major success in preventing communal terror attacks by busting the Kerala ISIS module.
They said that Union Home Minister Reiterating Amit Shah’s resolve to root out terrorism, the NIA has foiled plans for possible terror attacks on places of worship and leaders of certain communities. NIA arrested an accused who was hiding in Tamil Nadu and conducted searches at 4 places in Thrissur and Palakkad.
NIA launched joint operation
A Home Ministry spokesperson said that based on credible inputs and investigation, the NIA along with the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Kerala Police launched a joint operation based on intelligence inputs and conducted searches at four locations following the arrest of one of the accused. Raids were conducted at three places in Thrissur and one in Palakkad to bust the IS module.
One accused arrested in Tamil Nadu
He told that on Tuesday the NIA arrested one of the accused Ashif alias Mathilakath Kodayil Ashraf from his hideout near Sathyamangalam in Tamil Nadu. The next day searches were conducted at the homes of Ashif as well as three others, identified as Syed Nabeel Ahmed, Shias TS of Thrissur and Rais of Palakkad. Digital equipment and incriminating documents were seized during these raids.
ISIS module unearthed
Unraveling the terror plot, the spokesperson said the module was engaged in promoting IS activities and raising funds for carrying out terrorist attacks. They were plotting to carry out terrorist activities and had already carried out recce of some religious places and other prominent places including leaders in the state. Their aim was to spread terror in Kerala and create communal division. Investigation is going on in this case registered by NIA on 11 July 2023.
