Alcohol is the biggest reason in this.

Those with bipolar disease are at risk of premature death

Explain that experts already believed that people with bipolar disease have an increased risk of premature death. Although the reason behind this was not clear, a study was done to understand it. According to the information, scientists included 47,018 people with bipolar disorder, whose average age at the start of the monitoring period of the study was 38 years. The study ran from 2004 to 2018. It was revealed in the study that 7 percent ie 3,300 people with bipolar disease died. The researchers found that the risk of death in people with bipolar disease was 6 times that of external causes and twice that of physical diseases. Experts say that out of 3300 deaths, 61 percent were due to physical and 39 percent due to external reasons. Among the physical deaths, alcohol was found to be the cause of maximum 29% i.e. 595 deaths. Liver disease was found in almost half of these people, while among the deaths due to external causes, the highest number of deaths occurred due to suicide (58%). About half of these cases were caused by overdoses of mental health drugs.
