‘This is a sign of a weak leader…’, says CM Arvind Kejriwal on Manipur violence

Arvind Kejriwal on Manipur Violence: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday (July 20) spoke to the Prime Minister on the issue of Manipur violence and brutality meted out to women there. Narendra Modi surrounded the

Talking to the media, CM Kejriwal said, “The kind of situation prevailing inside Manipur for the last few months and the central government, especially the Prime Minister, never spoke anything on it.” This is very worrying. No action has been taken regarding this.

Both the Manipur government and the central government are responsible for this – Kejriwal

The Chief Minister of Delhi further said, “The second thing which went viral yesterday, in which the way two sisters were paraded naked and they were subjected to mass wrongdoings, has shaken the soul of the whole country. Video ne. It came to know that those videos are not from now, they are from two and a half months back. Within two and a half months, the government there did not do anything about it. This is very shameful, it becomes a criminal matter. It is with great sadness that I have to say that both the Manipur government and the central government are responsible for this.

‘This is a sign of a weak leader’

CM Kejriwal said, “It has often been seen that whenever such incidents happen in the country, the Prime Minister remains silent. This is a sign of a weak leader. It is a weak leader that when there is a problem, he sits quietly in his room. A courageous leader, a real leader, works from the front, comes to the front and works, when there is a problem, the leader appears on the front, it does not happen that when trouble comes, you sit silently and lock yourself inside your room.

He said, “It is very sad that the Prime Minister did not take any step during such a sensitive time, if he had taken the step on time, such injustice would not have happened to these sisters of ours.”

‘Everyone’s faces are visible inside the video’

CM Kejriwal said, “I was seeing the statement of the CM of Manipur a while ago that this is not just one incident, many such incidents have happened.” This means, don’t know how many sisters this happened inside Manipur, if many such incidents happened then what did they do about it? Why didn’t they catch the culprits and put them in jail? What were they doing till now? Now, after two and a half months, when that video surfaced, now they are saying that a man has been caught, don’t know how many people are there in that video. The FIR that has been registered has been against unknown people, everyone’s faces are visible inside the video.

Prime Minister will have to come forward – Kejriwal

He said, “Peace should be restored inside Manipur, however it is done, in whatever way peace is restored, this is such a sensitive matter, in which I would not like to do any politics, but the Prime Minister will have to come forward by doing anything.” … If there is a problem going on inside the country and the Prime Minister sits inside the room by chirping, then where will the country go, who will take care of the country? The Prime Minister will have to come forward and take responsibility for this and will have to take some tough and effective steps.
