Himanta Biswa Sarma On Manipur Violence: Ever since the video of two women being paraded naked in Manipur went viral, the opposition parties have badly besieged the BJP and the Modi government at the Centre. Congress has also raised many questions on the silence of PM Modi. Now amid all these allegations, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has hit back at the opposition.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Friday (July 21), “The Congress is waging a war against Manipur because Manipur is being run by the BJP government. The concern of the Congress party should not be limited to Manipur only.”
‘Opposition should pay attention in their states also’
Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “The Congress party should also think about the serious crimes against women in their own states. The opposition should also pay attention to what is going on in Rajasthan and West Bengal. They should not target the state of Manipur. It is a peace-loving state.”
Himanta Biswa Sarma’s claim
Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed, “The case against the video was registered long ago, the video was available but it was leaked before the day of the Parliament session. Whatever be the date of release of the video, the incident should be condemned, the guilty should be punished, I have no objection to it. But you should not bring Manipur state and entire Northeast India to the fore and make it a weapon to defame the region.”
In fact, in the shocking video that went viral on social media amid the Manipur violence, two women have been shown being paraded naked in front of the public and sexually assaulted. There has been widespread outrage and strong condemnation from the people against the video.
