IGNOU To Begin 4 Year Degree Programs From January 2024 Session: Indra Gandhi National Open University is preparing to bring a four-year degree program. These degree programs will start from the January 2024 session, which are being started under the recommendations of the National Education Policy 2020. These degree programs will be available for all the three streams i.e. Science, Arts and Commerce. Not only this, these degree courses in these three streams can be done in 13 Indian languages. You can choose the language you want. This will include all courses in Science, Arts and Commerce.
Courses will start on the recommendations of NEP
In the year 2020, a lot of advice was given to educational institutions under the National Education Policy. One of these was the initiative to start a four-year degree program. Working on this, IGNOU is launching new courses from the year 2024. Rest of the educational institutions will also implement the recommendations of NEP from the year 2024. The UGC has directed all universities to implement the recommendations of the NEP from the academic session 2023-24.
Study material is getting ready
IGNOU has also started preparing study material to start these courses. These courses can be done in 13 Indian languages. IGNOU experts are engaged in preparing study material in all languages. However, in the first phase, it will start with only 6 or 7 languages.
Not only this, the largest medium of distance education, IGNOU is also preparing to link skill and professional education along with degree program as well as Skill India Mission.
This will be the name of these courses
These courses of Arts, Science and Commerce will be named BA, B.Com, B.Sc in Major. Courses will start with this name for all the three streams. In these, multiple entry and exit options will be given as per the recommendations of NEP. You will get a certificate after studying for one year, a diploma after studying for two years and a degree after completing your studies.
