Imam returning after offering namaz in Baghpat was assaulted, shouted slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ at gunpoint


Baghpat News: An imam in UP’s Baghpat has alleged that three youths forcibly forced him to chant Jai Shri Ram and when he protested, he was assaulted. Imam Mujeeb Ur Rehman says he was attacked on Tuesday, the police initially lax in this matter but after complaining to the SP, the complaint was registered the next day and two accused have been arrested on Wednesday. .

In this case, Additional SP Manish Mishra said that Imam had given a complaint in the police station that some people forced him to chant Jai Shri Ram and assaulted him. As soon as the complaint was registered, the police took action and arrested two accused and the third accused is being searched.

‘Forced to say Jai Shri Ram’

Imam Mujib ur Rahman’s father Habib ur Rahman is the Qazi of the city. The victim said that on Tuesday he had gone to the mosque to offer evening prayers, after which three youths stopped him when he was returning. After that they put a saffron cloth around his neck and started fighting. Mujeeb ur Rehman said that the accused asked him to raise slogans of Jai Shri Ram and Hindustan Zindabad. When she refused to say Jai Shri Ram, he punched and kicked her. He made them chant religious slogans at gunpoint.

Giving more information in this matter, SP Arpit Vijayvargiya said, ‘With the help of CCTV footage, the accused were identified. So far two accused Rahul Kumar and Jitendra Kumar have been arrested in this case, search is on for the third one. However, the police have not yet disclosed the name of the third accused.
