Landslide in front of government house in Mussoorie, danger looms for five families, road blocked


Mussoorie Landslide: It is raining heavily in many districts including Mussoorie of Uttarakhand. Due to the rain, a landslide occurred in front of the official residence of the Municipal Council near the petrol pump in Mussoorie. Due to this landslide, five families living in the government house started facing danger and the way to go to the government house was also obstructed. As soon as the information about the landslide was received, the team of Mussoorie local administration and municipality reached the spot.

Under the leadership of Mussoorie’s Executive Officer Rajesh Naithani reached the spot and inspected the spot, during which the officials also took stock of the damage caused by the landslide. The people living in the government accommodation told that they are in danger after the landslide. Regarding the landslide, people told that suddenly in the afternoon, a large part of the mountain came on top of their house after a landslide, due to which the way to come and go was obstructed. In this landslide, their small children also narrowly survived.

Cracking mountains can cause major accident – local residents

According to the people, the hill is constantly cracking, due to which large boulders from the mountain can fall on top of their houses. Any major untoward incident can happen due to this landslide. The residents have demanded the local and municipal administration to take immediate action regarding the treatment of the mountain, so that any major incident can be avoided.

The treatment work of the mountain has been started – Executive Officer

Executive Officer Rajesh Naithani said that five families live in government accommodation near the petrol pump. Due to landslide, some part of the government house has come under threat. He said that the debris and stones coming in the way leading to the residence are being removed. Work has also been started immediately regarding the treatment of the mountain. Rajesh Naithani said that a plan is also being made to make an alternate route for coming and going to the government residence. He told that in Mussoorie, construction has been done on government land by illegal encroachment at many places. Whose report has been sent by him to the higher authorities. Soon action will be taken to remove illegal encroachment and construction from government land.
