After providing cheap pizza-burgers from online food ordering platforms like Swiggy and Zomato, now the government e-commerce platform ONDC has started an initiative to provide cheap tomatoes to the people. Under this, you can buy tomatoes online through ONDC. Funny that for this you have to pay less money too. While the prices of tomatoes in the open market are Rs 100 to Rs 250 per kg, you can buy tomatoes on ONDC at just Rs 70 per kg.

OnDC CEO gave information

ONDC is being described as the UPI of the e-commerce world. This platform has so far lived up to this comparison in many ways. ONDC Managing Director and CEO T Koshy gave an update about tomato on Friday. He said that ONDC is an organization which is socially sensitive. This is the reason that ONDC has taken the initiative to make tomatoes available at a cheaper rate.

ONDC will benefit from it

According to T Koshy, the sale of tomatoes at discounted rates to people on the ONDC platform National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation (NCCF). Tomatoes will be sold by NCCF on ONDC for the next 10-15 days at Rs 70 per kg. On the one hand, people will get tomatoes cheaply, while ONDC will be able to gain popularity and bring a large number of new customers to its platform. Only Delhiites can buy tomatoes cheaply on ONDC. For this you have to order a day in advance. For example, if you order Tomato on ONDC today, you will get the delivery tomorrow. To prevent hoarding and misuse of cheap availability, a limit has also been imposed for buying tomatoes. A person can order a maximum of 2 kg tomatoes from ONDC.

Offline facility also available

Earlier, central government agencies NAFED and NCCF are providing tomatoes cheaply to people through mobile vans at many places in Delhi-NCR. For this, stalls are being set up at many places in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad. Earlier, tomatoes were available at the rate of Rs.90 per kg at these stalls. Now there too the price has been reduced to Rs 70 per kg.
