Manipur Violence Update: A video that went viral from Manipur has created an uproar across the country. In the video, two women are seen being paraded naked by dozens of men. Now another shocking case has come to the fore. Actually, on this day another heart-wrenching incident took place in the state.
The video going viral on social media is of May 4. According to India Today, on the same day, two more tribal women were allegedly gang-raped and murdered in the northeastern state.
Both women used to work in car wash shop
Both the women who were gang-raped were residents of Kangpokpi area of Manipur and worked at a car wash shop in Imphal. On May 5, a mob allegedly abducted them from their workplace, gang-raped them and killed them both.
Case registered in these sections
After the incident, the mother of one of the victims lodged a complaint at Saikul police station on 5 May, but the police registered an FIR on 16 May. India Today has got a copy of an FIR in this matter. In this, a case has been registered against the accused under different sections of the IPC. These include 302 (murder), 375 (rape), and 366 (kidnapping).
Violence continues in Manipur since May 3
Manipur has been burning in the fire of violence for more than two months. Since May 3, the ongoing conflict between the people of the Kuki and Meitei communities has increased so much that more than 150 people have died in it so far.
