Korea Open Title: In the Korea Open, the Indian pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy won the Korea Open Super 500 Badminton title in men’s doubles by defeating the number one pair of Indonesia 17-21, 21-13, 21-14 in the final. In the file, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy were challenged by the world number one Indonesian pair of Fajr Alfian and Muhammad Riyan Ardianto. Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy lost 17-21 in the first set of the final.
After this, both made changes and won the last two sets by 21-13 and 21-14. Earlier, the Indian pair defeated the world number-2 Chinese pair of Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang in the semi-finals last Saturday and confirmed their place in the finals. Now on Sunday, defeating the number one pair, they have won the title. The Indian pair is at number three in the rankings.
In the semifinals, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy defeated China’s Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang 21–15 and 24–22 in a game of 40 minutes at the Jinnam Stadium. This was the first victory over this Chinese pair of Satwik and Chirag. Before this, the Indian pair had to face defeat twice in front of the Chinese pair. This year, the pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy has already won the Indonesia Super 1000 and Swiss Open Super 500 titles.
After the pairing of Satwik and Chirag, both have won many titles. The pair of both the players had won the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games. Apart from this, the Indian pair also won the gold medal in the Thomas Cup. Bronze medal in World Championships, Super 300 (Syed Modi and Swiss Open), Super 500 (Thailand and India Open), Super 750 (French Open) and Indonesia Open Super 1000 to his name.
