Durg Crime News: The Durg Police of Chhattisgarh has arrested two people playing online betting who were extorting 5 lakhs at gunpoint. The accused kidnapped a person and made him sit in the Baleno car and then started demanding money and threatened to kill him if he did not give it. The victim, Sarkar Tandon, lodged a report at the Bhilai Nagar police station on 22 July. He complained that on July 18, Baljit Sethia and his relative Babbi forcefully took him in a black Baleno car and took him to Supela and threatened to kill him if he did not pay the money.
The victim told that on July 19, Baljit Sethia and Babbi came again and threatened to kill him if the money was not given by placing a gun on his temple. After this Sarkar Tandon sent one lakh rupees online to Baljeet Sethia on 19th July. Here, the victim lodged a complaint with the police. The police registered a case and started investigating the matter.
Weapon seized from the accused
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Durg SP Shalabh Sinha instructed to take immediate action in the matter and arrest the accused. After which a team of senior officers was formed. After which the team closely interrogated the scene and the victim. The police laid siege and arrested both the accused. A country-made pistol, three live cartridges and a Baleno car have been seized from them.
Applicant and accused were involved in illegal work of online betting
Durg SP Shalabh Sinha told that this whole matter is related to online betting. Both the victim and the accused were running an online panel in Goa. The victim had come to Bhilai after the panel was damaged. After which the accused were demanding five lakhs from him. For not giving the money, the accused kidnapped the victim and threatened to kill him for not giving the money. Taking action, the police arrested both the accused.
