Pakistan Imran Khan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Monday (July 24) got relief in the murder case of senior Quetta lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar. According to Pakistan’s Geo News, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has banned the arrest of the former Prime Minister till August 9 in the case of the lawyer’s murder.
The nomination was made against former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan in a case related to the shooting of Shar in June. A petition related to this matter was also filed in the Supreme Court. Lawyer Shar was shot dead on June 6 by unidentified men on three motorcycles while on his way to the Balochistan High Court (BHC).
Pakistan PM’s assistant held responsible
On the complaint of Siraj Ahmed, son of Abdul Razzaq Shar, an FIR was registered against Imran Khan and others under the Murder Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and other provisions in Quetta. Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant (SAPM) to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, held the PTI chairman directly responsible for the assassination. He claimed that the killing was deliberate, as lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar was defending the case related to the sedition case against Imran.
In Pakistan, cases of treason are registered against people under Article 6 of the Constitution. A three-member bench of Supreme Court judges Yahya Afridi, Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Musarat Hilali directed Imran Khan to appear before the court on 9 August.
Imran Khan were not present in court
The PTI chief had appeared before the court as directed by the judge on the previous hearing related to the case. However, this time he was not present in the court. Due to his absence, arguments could not be given on behalf of the counsel for the complainant. Meanwhile, the counsel for Balochistan requested the court to order the former Prime Minister to appear before the Investigating Officer (IO) in the matter.
After this, Judge Afridi directed the public prosecutor to take instructions on the reason for including Khan in the investigation and to tell it in the court in front of the complainant’s lawyer on the next hearing.
