Indian captain may be banned for 2 matches, this action may be heavy on Bangladesh tour

Harmanpreet Kaur May Get 2 Match Ban: Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, is in danger of being banned for 2 matches. The reason behind this is his statement regarding the decision of the umpires in the last ODI match against Bangladesh women’s team. Harmanpreet can be given 4 demerit points as a punishment for harming the dignity of the game and due to this she can stay out of the first 2 matches of the Asian Games.

The series ended in a 1-1 draw after the last ODI match against Bangladesh ended in a tie. Indian captain was out LBW on the ball of Nahida Akhtar in this match. Expressing his displeasure on the field itself, Harmanpreet hit his bat on the stumps regarding this decision of the umpire.

After this, Harmanpreet Kaur publicly criticized the umpires during the presentation ceremony after the match ended in a tie and even asked them to participate in the award ceremony. On this statement of the Indian captain, Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana got angry and took her team from there.

A source in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement to PTI about Harmanpreet Kaur that she has been accused of damaging sporting goods and criticizing match officials. It is yet to be decided whether 3 demerit points should be added to his account or 4.

Getting 4 demerit points will result in a ban of 2 matches.

The BCCI source further said in his statement that according to the rule, if 4 demerit points are added to a player’s account within 24 months, then he can be banned for one Test or 2 limited overs matches. The Indian women’s team now has to play its next match in the Asian Games and in this situation Harmanpreet may be out for 2 matches.
