Parliament Monsoon Session: The deadlock between the ruling party and the opposition is increasing after PM Modi’s remarks on the issue of Manipur and the alliance of opposition parties in India. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has tried to defuse the impasse by writing letters to Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary. Opposition parties will also bring a no-confidence motion against the government in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday (July 26).
1. The Congress has issued a three-line whip to its Lok Sabha MPs to be present in Parliament on 26 July. In this, all the Lok Sabha MPs have been instructed to be present in the Parliament. There will be a meeting of Congress MPs at 10.30 am. Apart from this, the protest of the opposition MPs of Rajya Sabha is also going on in the Parliament premises regarding the suspension of AAP MP Sanjay Singh for the current monsoon session.
2. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday wrote to Leaders of the Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, requesting their cooperation in the discussion on the Manipur issue in Parliament. In identical letters to Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Kharge and Congress leader in Lok Sabha, Amit Shah said the government was ready to discuss the Manipur issue and urged everyone to cooperate, rising above party ideology.
3. Amit Shah wrote that I am writing this letter to you to seek your cooperation in discussing the events of Manipur in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. Our Parliament is the cornerstone of India’s vibrant democracy. Due to some court decisions and some incidents, incidents of violence took place in Manipur in the beginning of May. Some shameful incidents also came to the fore, after which the people of the whole country are expecting from the Parliament that in this difficult time, all the parties should rise above party politics and stand with the people of Manipur.
4. The Home Minister wrote that at this time the people of Manipur want us MPs from all parties to assure them that we are united and determined for the peace of Manipur. The demand of the opposition is that there should be a statement on Manipur from the government, I want to tell you that the government is ready for a full discussion, not just the statement, but the support of all parties is expected in this. Let us rise above party lines and work in harmony to find just and lasting solutions to the challenges facing our nation.
5. Constituents of the opposition alliance Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (India) will give notice of no-confidence motion against the government in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday amid the deadlock in Parliament over the Manipar violence issue. Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary told news agency ANI that the opposition parties will bring a no-confidence motion against the government in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
6. Earlier, PM Modi, while targeting the alliance of opposition parties, cited names like East India Company, PFI and Indian Mujahideen and said that people cannot be misled just by using the name of the country. According to sources, PM Modi criticized the opposition amid the ongoing deadlock in the Parliament and expressed confidence that in 2024 Lok Sabha ElectionsAfter the victory in the elections, the ruling NDA is sure to get the third consecutive term.
7. Opposition leaders also retaliated on this statement of PM Modi. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi said that you can call us whatever you want, Modi ji, we are India. We will help heal Manipur and wipe the tears of every woman and child. We will rebuild the idea of India in Manipur. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said that the people who were acting as informers of the freedom fighters in the freedom movement are now giving false discourses. By putting a title in one’s name or by wearing a robe, one’s original form is not hidden. The divisives who use politics as a weapon of division are now counting their days. West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also criticized the PM.
8. The Congress tweeted photos of several leaders with PM Modi and wrote, “Scam-Bandhan”. In this tweet, along with PM Modi, many leaders including Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Jai Panda, Suvendu Adhikari, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, BS Bommai, Chhagan Bhujbal, Raghuvar Das, Pema Khandu, Ajit Pawar were accused of involvement in various scams.
9. CM of UP Yogi Adityanath Strongly attacking the opposition, tweeted that even if the crow names itself Hans, it will not bite the pearl. Giving the name of full moon to the black night of new moon will not make it cool and bright. By changing the name, their basic nature will not change. Just by using the name INDIA, the divisive thinking and anti-India vision created in the soul and culture will not end. Changing your name will not change your game, this is India vs India.
10. Due to uproar over the Manipur issue, the proceedings of both the Houses were repeatedly disrupted on the first four days of the monsoon session of the Parliament. Opposition parties are demanding a statement and discussion from PM Modi in Parliament on this issue. Amidst the uproar, some legislative work was also completed on Tuesday. During this, the Multi-State Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2022 and the Biological Diversity (Amendment) Bill, 2022 were passed in the Lok Sabha.
